The hand tufting process is a series of tapes that are passed through the mattress at regular intervals and secured with a cotton tuft on each side. This procedure secures the generous layers of white fibre fillings and pre-tensions the mattress. The result is a firmer feel and ensures the fillings stay in place. The spring system in the Backcare is a 12.5 gauge open coil unit, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. Its robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The border of the mattress is strengthened by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the perimeter of the mattress. This lets you sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. Supporting the mattress is a stylish solid top faux suede divan base. It is presented in four desirable colours and with a variety of storage combinations. There is even the choice to have standard castors or upgrade to contemporary silver glide feet.
