At 140cm x 200cm, the IKEA size Backcare divan set is manufactured in the UK by Deluxe Beds is specifically designed to suit European bed sizes that are 10cm longer than a double bed. Its orthopaedic support is achieved by combining an extra firm open coil spring system, layers of hypo-allergenic fillings, a durable damask cover and a hand tufted finish. The hand tufting process involves a series of tapes being passed through the mattress at regular intervals and securing them on both sides with a cotton tuft. This practice not only ensures the layers of white fibre fillings are kept securely in place but also pre-tensions the mattress resulting in a firmer feel. The spring system in the Backcare is a 12.5 gauge open coil unit, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. It is robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The border of the mattress is reinforced by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the perimeter of the mattress, allowing you to sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. Supporting the mattress is our universal platform style, solid top divan base. It is offered in several colours and with or without storage.
