The Backcare king size divan bed is the ultimate in extra firm; it boasts an orthopaedic support and is available at a budget price. The mattress is skilfully tailored using a luxury damask fabric cover with a hand tufted finish for added strength and durability. Several layers of white fibre fillings are combined with extra firm fillings to create a firm, yet comfortable sleeping surface. The hand tufting process involves a series of tapes being passed through the mattress at regular intervals and fastening them on both sides with a cotton tuft. This procedure not only ensures the generous layers of white fibre fillings are kept securely in place but also pre-tensions the mattress resulting in a firmer feel. The spring system in the Backcare is a 12.5 gauge open coil unit, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. Its robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The border of the mattress is strengthened by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the perimeter of the mattress. This allows you to sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. Completing the set is a platform style, solid top divan base. It is covered in soft and durable faux suede and is presented in four desirable colours, natural, black, sand and cappuccino. The base is available with a diverse range of storage combinations and you can even select to have standard castors or upgrade to contemporary silver glides.
