Supplied by Deluxe Beds, the Backcare Ikea size single mattress measures 90cm wide and 200cm long, bigger than a standard single at 90cm x 190cm. The mattress is extremely firm and offers you a traditional orthopaedic support and is expertly upholstered in a quality damask cover with a hand tufted finish. Hand tufting is a process that is achieved by passing tapes through the mattress at regular intervals and securing them on both sides with a cotton tuft. The result is, all layers of white fibre fillings on both sides are secured to the spring interior, ensuring the upholstery is less likely to move and go lumpy. The spring system in the Backcare is a 12.5 gauge open coil unit, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. Its robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The border of the mattress is strengthened by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the perimeter of the mattress. This lets you sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. Should you buy any European or Ikea size single bed frame, you will require a 90cm x 200cm mattress.
