At the core of the mattress is a robust 13.5 gauge open coil spring system that is made up of rows of hour-glass shaped springs, connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. Additional strength is added to the border of the interior by attaching a thick rod-edge wire to the perimeter of the spring system. This prevents border breakdown on edges that are sat on regularly. This additional edge support allows you the use of the full width and lets you sleep comfortably right up to the edge of the mattress without the sensation of rolling off.
