The king size Elegance Orthopaedic Luxury mattress unites a firm open coil spring interior, substantial layers of fillings and a soft woven fabric cover. The fillings used within the mattress are a blend of white fibre fillings, combined with firm fillings to create a supportive, yet comfortable sleeping surface. It features a hand tufted finish where a series of tapes are passed through the panels at regular intervals and held in place on each side with a cotton tuft. The hand tufting process secures the fillings and pre-tensions the mattress. This results in a firmer feel and ensures the upholstery stays in place. The spring interior system used is a 12.5 gauge open coil unit, one of the firmest and thickest wires used in mattress manufacturing. The open coil spring system is robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, also known as a helical wire. The perimeter of the spring unit is reinforced by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the border of the mattress. This lets you sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. The mattress features a hand stitched perimeter; a labour intensive process that sews the pocket springs to the mattress border. The side stitched process provides total edge to edge support and prevents the side panels from bowing out and enhances its life span.
