The foundation of the Ashleigh mattress is made up of a strong and sturdy 12.5 gauge open coil spring system, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing in the UK today. Open coil interiors are robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. To add additional support to the border, a thick rod-edge wire is attached to the perimeter of the spring unit. This reinforces the spring system and allows you to sleep right up to the edge without the feeling of rolling off.
