Upholstered in a quality cotton cover, its hand tufting process is achieved by passing tapes through the mattress at regular intervals and securing them on each side with a cotton tuft. The hand tufting procedure ensures the generous layers of fillings are held securely in place and reduces the chance of upholstery movement that causes lumpy mattresses. Wool is a soft, yet supportive and breathable filling that retains its warmth in the winter months and displays its cool characteristics in the summer time. Cashmere and Silk fillings are extremely durable and generally found in high end mattresses to add a luxurious and comfortable feel to the mattress. The foundation of the mattress is its spring system, a 12.5 gauge open coil unit and one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. Open coil systems are robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The perimeter of the spring unit is reinforced by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the border of the mattress. You can sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off.
