The Cirrus mattress is 25cm deep and features a robust open coil spring system, non-allergenic fillings and is upholstered in a durable damask cover with a hand tufted finish. Tufting is a process of nylon tapes passed through the mattress at regular intervals and secured on each side. This pre-tensions the mattress to give it a firmer feel and ensures the fillings stay in place. The mattress has a firm support open coil spring unit, also known as a Bonnell spring. The spring unit is made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as the helical wire. The edge of the spring unit is strengthened by a rod-edge wire that supports the outside of the springs and helps prevent border breakdown.
