The mattress features a durable damask cover and a hand tufted finish; a process that secures the fillings stay in place by passing tapes through it and attaching them on both sides with a cotton tuft. The interior of the Backcare Supreme mattress is a robust and durable 12.5 gauge open coil spring system and one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing. Open coil spring units are extremely hard wearing and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. The perimeter of the spring unit is reinforced by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the border of the mattress. This lets you sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off. Dual sided, you are required to rotate and turn this mattress over regularly. This evens out wear and tear, alleviates body impressions and extends the life of the mattress. Flag stitched handles are fitted to the mattress border to assist when turning.
