Its firm support is provided by a strong and sturdy 12.5 gauge open coil spring interior, one of the firmest wire used in mattress manufacturing in the UK today. Open coil interiors consist of rows of robust springs running from head to toe and connected into one single unit by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. For additional strength, a thick 6 gauge rod-edge wire is attached to the perimeter of the spring system, thus preventing border breakdown and allowing the use of the full width of the mattress. Dual-sided, the mattress requires to be flipped over and rotated from head to toe. Flag-stitched handles have been fitted to assist with turning.
