The Chelsea mattress boasts a high loft finish that is achieved by its hand tufting; a process that passes tapes through it at regular intervals and secures them on both sides with a cotton tuft. To provide an ideal sleeping environment for allergy sufferers and asthmatics, the Chelsea mattress features several layers of white fibre hypo-allergenic fillings. At the core of the mattress is a sturdy open coil interior that is made up of hourglass shaped springs that run from head to toe and connected into one single unit by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire. Additional perimeter support is added to the unit by attaching a thick 6 gauge rod-edge wire to the spring system. This ensures the interior retains its shape and prevents border breakdown.
