The foundation of the mattress is its pocket spring interior; a system made up of totally independent springs that are smaller in diameter, compared to a standard 3" open coil spring. Each spring is encased within a separate flexible cloth sleeve that allows it to move independently to the ones around, providing fantastic lumber support.
