By combining totally independent pocket springs, a layer of natural Latex and soft white fibre fillings, Shire Beds have created the Latex 2000, an extremely supportive and comfortable mattress. The Latex 2000 is manufactured by skilled craftsmen and is upholstered in a soft Belgian damask cover and boasts generous layers of hypo-allergenic fillings and a hand tufted finish. Its Latex layer is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-dustmite with excellent temperature and moisture regulation; creating an ideal sleeping environment for allergy sufferers and asthmatics. Natural Latex also has the ability to adapt perfectly to your body shape and contours; helping to align your spinal column correctly, whether you lie on your side or your back. At the core of the mattress is its pocket spring interior; a system made up of totally independent pocket springs with each one housed in its own cloth pocket so the load on one spring doesnt affect any of the neighbouring springs. This allows the springs to contour perfectly to your body shape and provide piston-like support to each part of the body. They are not affected by varying weights and body shapes, resulting in a system that supports directly at the point of contact. To add support to the perimeter and prevent border breakdown, a flat rod-edge wire is attached to spring unit. This strengthens the mattress border and allows you the full use of the mattress width. There is no need to flip the mattress over as it is designed to be one-sided, but we do recommend that you rotate it regularly from top to bottom.
